The Men’s Global Wellbeing Index tracks the state of men’s lives and wellbeing around the world using 10 critical metrics. Across the globe, millions of men face silent struggles — from mental health battles and legal bias to social isolation and violence. Yet, these issues often go unrecognized in mainstream wellbeing metrics. The Men’s Global Wellbeing Index (MGWI) changes that. We’re building the world’s first data-backed platform that scores and compares how different countries support or fail their male populations, giving voice to the often voiceless.

What Is the Men’s Global Wellbeing Index used for? (MGWI)

The Men’s Global Wellbeing Index is a 100 point scoring system that evaluates each country based on 10 measurable wellbeing factors affecting men around the world. The Men’s Global Wellbeing Index (MGWI) is a first-of-its-kind initiative designed to measure and compare the quality of life for men across different countries. Rather than focusing solely on economic or political indicators, the MGWI takes a broader, more human-centered approach — highlighting the often-overlooked challenges men face in today’s world.

Developed through publicly available data and expert-reviewed criteria, the index provides a comprehensive snapshot of male wellbeing by analyzing 10 key factors that impact men’s lives, including mental health access, suicide rates, legal bias, fatherhood rights, and social stigma. The goal is to bring visibility to these issues, foster informed discussions, and inspire solutions.

Each country receives a score out of 100, with higher scores representing more supportive environments for men. By ranking nations side by side, the MGWI helps identify both areas of concern and models of progress. It also gives NGOs, researchers, policymakers, and advocacy groups a tool to better understand and address gender-specific challenges affecting half the population.

The MGWI is not about creating division, but about bringing clarity to unseen struggles, promoting fairness, and supporting healthier outcomes for everyone. When men thrive, communities, families, and societies benefit as a whole.

Why The Men’s Global Wellbeing Index Matters?

Understanding how policies, culture, and social attitudes impact men globally isn’t just about data — it’s about saving lives, shaping smarter policy, and restoring balance to conversations around wellbeing and gender. Whether you’re an individual, researcher, journalist, or NGO, MGWI gives you the tools to:

  • Compare wellbeing outcomes for men by country
  • Spot trends in mental health, social justice, and equality
  • Advocate with facts, not emotion
  • Support real-world solutions backed by data

How The Men’s Global Wellbeing Index Is Built:

  1. Suicide Rate Male suicide is often higher than female, yet under-discussed. This metric tracks male suicide deaths per 100,000.
  2. Social Bias Captures how socially acceptable it is to demean or stereotype men in media, education, or public life.
  3. Child Custody Measures legal and systemic bias against fathers in custody or visitation rights.
  4. Homelessness Men make up the majority of the homeless population globally. This tracks male homelessness rates.
  5. Legal Bias Assesses if men face harsher legal outcomes, prison sentencing, or systemic disadvantages in the courts.
  1. Workplace Fairness Looks at gender equity in dangerous jobs, retirement age, unpaid labor expectations, and workplace deaths.
  2. Freedom of Expression Measures how free men are to speak about their struggles without being dismissed or ridiculed.
  3. Access to Mental Health Tracks how available and affordable mental health resources are for men, including stigma in seeking help.
  4. Violence Against Men Covers violent crime, domestic abuse, and assault statistics where men are victims — often underreported.
  5. Loneliness Considers male friendship decline, isolation rates, and how societal shifts affect men’s social connections.
